Installation & operation – exactly according to your needs

Whether you want a quick start without IT effort or rather maximum control over data and systems: translate5 offers you the choice between cloud operation and on‑premises installation.

Operate translate5 in the cloud, on-premises or in a hybrid form

The deployment and operation of translate5 allows various combinations of on-premises and cloud-hosted components. Essentially, the prices for operation in the cloud and on-premises are the same.

However, the cloud already includes a standard budget for cloudlets and hosting support from our team.

The following graphic shows the – almost unlimited – options you have when installing and operating translate5:

What makes our cloud offering stand out

Maximum security. Full control. Hosting in Germany:

The hosting of translate5 by our team combines professional software support with highly available, GDPR-compliant cloud hosting completely in Germany and with clearly distributed responsibilities.

Reliable operation from a single source:

The translate5 team takes care of administration, maintenance and updates of translate5 and all associated microservices. You benefit from a stable, always up-to-date system – without any operational efforts of your own.

Scalable cloud infrastructure in Germany:

translate5 is operated on the iNET.elastic platform from INETsolutions. The setup is horizontally and vertically scalable and is based on modern container technologies such as Docker and Jelastic. You therefore benefit from very short response times and a high level of technical support, thanks to many years of collaboration since 2012.

Certified data centre & German server locations:

The underlying hardware is operated in the OVH data centre in Limburg (Germany). The data never leaves Germany – a key factor for data protection and compliance.

E-mail dispatch flexibly configurable:

By default, system e-mails from translate5 are sent via B2B mail servers in Germany. Optionally, translate5 can also be connected to your company’s own mail server – including IP restrictions, authentication, and encryption.

Multi-level backup concept:

A multi-level backup system is used for maximum fail-safety:

  • Daily snapshots of the infrastructure by INETsolutions with retention cycles lasting several days;
  • In addition, daily Borg backups of all relevant data by MittagQI; external storage of this at Strato (separate provider, separate location); guaranteed storage of each backup for 7 days, i.e. every 7th day. Backups for 6 weeks; in reality often longer.

Installation and operation on-premises

Full control over data, systems and security.

Using an on-premises setup, you install and operate translate5 on your own servers or in your own cloud environment.

  • You decide where your (clients’) data is located
  • Protect your data in line with your IT security strategy
  • Enjoy full flexibility in every respect
Define your security level with an on-premises installation

Typical use cases

  • You are a company or public authority with high data protection and/or compliance requirements.
  • You have your own IT department and want to have full control over the systems used.
  • You want to be able to control hardware scaling and the associated costs independently.
Operating on-premises offers you a range of benefits

The advantages of cloud operation

  • Full data sovereignty – all content remains in your own network
  • Customized security and backup strategies
  • Independence from external hosting
